Introduction
This is the beginning of my exploration into the world wide web, from the producer point of view, at least. I've been using the big WWW since 1993, but never have gotten into the actual construction of the page itself except for the basic HTML stuff.
This will be an exploration phase, both in the WWW area and in the area of home construction and alternative energy living. This web site will serve as documentation of this process. At least at first, this won't be a professionally constructed site, but things will improve over time as I pick up new tricks. I will try to provide as close to my actual experience as I can to help make the future path for other people who want to find out information a little bit easier.
The midwest area has not had near as much discussion as has the outlying part of the United States. In my search for relevant information concerning living and working in a more friendly relation to the environment, it has been very difficult to find anybody close to my area (central Kansas) who can help with basic questions, or who have heard home constructed within the last 10 years. The big boom appeared to have occurred in the early 1970's (before and during the "energy crisis"), but after the start of the decadent 80's, the trend seems to have died down.
I will definitely say that I am not someone who is in fear of the year 2000, the new millennium does not even begin until 2001 and want to build in Kansas, not move to Montana away from all the technology and Y2K concerns. Actually, thank goodness for technology, as I want to make sure this home be very future friendly and managing both technology and the environment will be quite interesting, to say the least.
